On May 28, 1998, Pakistan decisively asserted its sovereignty by joining the exclusive club of nuclear powers. Today, 27 years later, this date carries even deeper resonance. Recent military tensions along our eastern border reminded the world that Pakistan remains vigilant, its strategic capabilities are intact and that its leadership remains unflinching in defending territorial integrity. But we must look beyond the recent conflict with India.
If our nuclear deterrent is to remain credible it must be supported by an educated population capable of steering technological advances of steering technological advances in every field – from agriculture and healthcare to IT and renewable energy.
