This past Wednesday (May 28), the nation marked Youm-e-Takbeer. On this date in 1998, Pakistan became a nuclear power. This was a proud moment for the whole nation and a big step for our defence. After facing several wars with India, especially the 1971 war, it became clear that Pakistan needed a strong defence setup to protect its freedom. The nuclear tests were not meant to start a war but to show that Pakistan can defend itself when needed. Our strength helps keep peace in the region. Youm-e-Takbeer reminds us of our unity, the efforts of our scientists and the leadership that made Pakistan stronger. I hope our young generation will take inspiration from this day and work hard to make Pakistan better in every way.
