KARACHI: CEO of the Pakistan Crypto Council (PCC) Bilal Bin Saqib met with US Senator Bill Hagerty in New York, US, according to a post by the PCC’s official Instagram channel on Saturday.
Senator Hagerty is the lead sponsor of the Guiding and Establishing National Innovation for US Stablecoins (GENIUS) Act, which is aimed at creating a comprehensive regulatory framework for payment stablecoins. The bill, which was passed by the Senate on Monday, seeks to provide legal clarity while encouraging responsible development within the digital finance space.
The meeting comes as Pakistan continues to explore digital solutions to improve its financial ecosystem. In an interview with Geo.tv on Friday, Saqib had said that with annual remittances exceeding $36 billion, Pakistan is viewed as a key market where stablecoin technology could support faster, more affordable cross-border payments and broaden financial inclusion.
Saqib is in the US for his participation in the Bitcoin 2025 Conference in Las Vegas, where he is set to speak alongside a roster of influential figures including US Vice President JD Vance and Donald Trump Jr. The event is expected to shape future narratives on global crypto governance.
