Fawad Khan steals the show (and hearts) with his charming ways
After making news for weeks, the IIFA Awards 2016 finally concluded in Madrid, Spain this past weekend and gave fans of the Hindi film industry plenty to cheer about.
Our story, however, begins with Pakistani heartthrob and man of the year, Fawad Khan whose star power has not only eclipsed his peers at home but is on its way and surpassing his Bollywood colleagues as well. For example, in a video that has now gone viral, Khan is seen on the red carpet being a good sport as Ranveer Singh mimics women and how they find Khan so very charming.
Living up to his reputation, Khan reportedly had a good time sharing the stage with producer/director Karan Johar when the duo hosted IIFA Rocks. In fact, the interwebs are swimming with stories of how Khan shared eclectic chemistry with Bollywood’s reigning queen, Deepika Padukone and welcomed her to the stage during IIFA Rocks by going down on one knee. The sparks between them also added fuel to the idea that the two should be cast together in a film. Khan also shared the stage with the likes of Sonakshi Sinha and sang a song as well.
Other prominent stars who attended the IIFA spectacle included the likes of Salman Khan, who also performed, Shahid Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Hrithik Roshan.
The main awards night, hosted by Shahid Kapoor, flying high on the success of his new film, Udta Punjab, and Farhan Akhtar, was all about Bajirao Mastani. The Sanjay Leela Bhansali magnum opus dominated proceedings at the IIFAs and picked up a total of nine awards including Best Actor for Ranveer Singh, Best Supporting Actor – Female for Priyanka Chopra and Best Director for Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
Salman Khan lost the Best Actor trophy to Ranveer Singh but that didn’t keep the two stars from getting together onstage, albeit briefly, when Khan was joined onstage by Singh during the former’s power-packed performance.
Salman Khan, while continuing with his no-apology stance over his offensive remarks, made his present felt at the IIFAs. The 50-year-old star performed to a medley which included songs from his upcoming film Sultan and age-old hit, Hum Di De Chuke Sanam. Towards the end of his performance, Khan was joined onstage by Ranveer Singh and Sooraj Pancholi.
Hrithik Roshan had a slight case of nerves before taking the stage due to the fact that both his sons were in the audience. Of course, the feeling quickly disappeared and the star showed off his impeccable dancing skills.
