ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has declared a zero-tolerance policy against online child harassment, demanding immediate and stringent measures to combat the escalating threat.
The minister’s strong stance came during a high-level meeting held on Wednesday, where crucial security and law enforcement initiatives were reviewed in collaboration with the UK-Pakistan “Serious Crime and Law Enforcement Programme (UPSCALE).”
Minister Naqvi underscored the urgent need for enhanced coordination and integrated efforts to curb illegal immigration and drug trafficking. “All available resources will be mobilized to eradicate online child abuse,” he asserted, pledging unwavering support to prevent serious and organized crimes. A key development announced was the implementation of a five-year Passport Control List restriction for deported individuals, aimed at deterring illegal re-entry. “Mutual cooperation is indispensable in tackling illegal immigration. We greatly appreciate the UK’s assistance,” Naqvi stated, acknowledging the vital partnership.
A significant proposal to include sex offenders in the Passport Control List was also deliberated upon, signaling a proactive approach to safeguarding vulnerable populations. Furthermore, the establishment of Pakistan’s first Sex Offender Register was announced, marking a milestone in the nation’s efforts to combat sexual crimes.
