Style notes from Spain

Fashion and stardom go together like salt and pepper, popcorn and cinema, politicians and corruption...you get the drift. The red carpet presents a mutual opportunity for couturiers and stars to collaborate and display their craft and styling chops with a global audience watching. In fact now more than ever, red carpets provide stars and designers amazing PR opportunities and Indian celebrities and fashion has truly gone global in the social media age.

If you need any proof of how far B-town has evolved in terms of glitz and glamour just take a look at the images from the IIFA Rocks Green Carpet. It wasn’t even the main awards night, a pre-event promotional activity but the celebrities left no stone unturned when it came to fashion. From Deepika Padukone in a sharply cut black gown with a sexy plunging neckline to our very own cross border export, Fawad Khan in a sports jacket and bow tie by Republic, the attendees looked slick and appropriately attired.

Neha Dhupia in a breezy, bright yellow duster and matching white separates.

Padukone has been staking her claim on Bollywood with her stellar style, backed of course by hit movies, her acting ability and prestigious Hollywood projects that turn her into a globally recognised star. She’s clearly dressing the part and has been changing out of one spectacular outfit into another. Her choice of accessories and makeup, a striking pendent on a classic string of pearls by Farah Khan Ali and an edgy faux hawk prevented the look from become too predictably pretty.

Some of our other favourite looks from the night include British born hottie Nargis Fakhri who turned up in a powder blue suit with gold detailing along the jacket sleeve. It was a simple outfit but extremely impactful; in our opinion Fakhri’s crisp ensemble outshone others who had opted for more traditionally formal looks and gowns. Minimal accessories and soft, peachy makeup ensured that the sleek aesthetic defined Fakhri’s look for the night.

Another actor who made us sit up and take notice was svelte babe Neha Dhupia in a breezy, bright yellow duster and matching white separates. Dramatic, smoky navy eyes, a cocktail ring and a black Bottega clutch were all Dhupia added to finish off her look for the night.
