ISLAMABAD: In response to perceived threats targeting civilian populations, authorities across Pakistan have initiated a nationwide security crackdown, deploying heavy civil forces to safeguard sensitive installations.

The move comes under a declared Red Alert Status, signaling a significant increase in vigilance.

In the federal capital, an atmosphere of heightened security prevails, particularly within the Red Zone. Diplomatic Enclave and other critical facilities within the area are now heavily guarded by a multi-tiered security apparatus comprising police, Rangers, constabularies, and other law enforcement agencies. These forces are equipped with sophisticated weaponry and advanced technological tools to effectively counter any potential aggression.

Islamabad Police Inspector General Ali Nasir Rizvi has issued a clear directive to his force, emphasising unwavering vigilance. He affirmed that security measures have been amplified at all vital and sensitive locations throughout the capital.

In a statement, he said: “The Islamabad Police stand shoulder to shoulder with the armed forces of Pakistan and are positioned like a wall of steel in front of the enemy. We are fully prepared to deal with any situation.”

Adding to the security measures in Islamabad, the deputy commissioner has announced the immediate closure of all educational institutions.

Extending beyond the federal capital, the Punjab Home Department has issued a crucial directive mandating stringent security protocols across the entire province. Authorities have been instructed to fortify sensitive locations and key installations with immediate effect. This directive has been formally communicated to the Punjab Inspector General (IG), the Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO), and all Regional and City Police Officers (RPOs and CPOs), mandating extraordinary security arrangements at critical sites and sensitive zones across all districts. The directive originated from the Internal Security Wing of the Punjab Home Department. Consequently, educational institutions across Punjab will also remain closed today.

Meanwhile, in Sindh IGP Ghulam Nabi Memon has placed the provincial police force on high alert at all levels. His issued instructions underscore the necessity for rigorous surveillance in urban centres and other public areas, coupled with continuous and robust patrolling.

The IG Sindh emphasised the need to further fortify security at key installations and to implement more effective checking procedures. Furthermore, he directed the police force to act swiftly and proactively upon receiving any intelligence concerning suspicious individuals, activities, or potential terrorist threats, aiming to neutralize any danger preemptively.

These comprehensive security measures across Islamabad, Punjab, and Sindh underscore the nation’s commitment to safeguarding its citizens and critical infrastructure in the face of perceived external risks. Authorities are urging the public to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement agencies during this period of heightened vigilance.

While, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan establishments also arranged pertinent security measures to counter such threats of attacks on civilian populations.
