Boxing Champion Usman visits Iqra University

KARACHI: Iqra University’s main campus warmly welcomed Pakistan’s renowned professional boxer, Usman Wazeer, famously known as the “Asian Boy” on the international stage. The purpose of his visit was to share his career experiences with students, motivate aspiring athletes, and promote excellence in sports.

On Friday, during the visit, Usman Wazeer met with Dr. Syed Shiraz-ul-Hasan Mohani, Director of Sports at Iqra University. He reviewed the university’s sports facilities and addressed students about his journey in professional boxing. Emphasizing discipline, hard work, and perseverance as the keys to success, Wazeer inspired students with his story.

Dr. Syed Shiraz ul Hassan Mohani congratulated Usman Wazeer on his remarkable victory against an Indian boxer, extending his undefeated record to 16-0. He highlighted the challenges faced in the sports sector at the university level and shared how Iqra University promotes sports through scholarships and active student participation.

Usman praised the university’s efforts in advancing sports and emphasized the importance of grassroots development. He stated that Pakistan’s future in sports is bright, but educational institutions must play a strong role in developing the next generation of champions.

Students had the opportunity to interact directly with Usman Wazeer and ask questions. In recognition of his achievements, he was presented with a commemorative shield. Also present at the event were legendary Pakistani boxer Ali Bakhsh Baloch, national boxing team coach Dost Muhammad Baloch, Rehmat Jan, Tahseen Ahmed, Afshan Fatima, Furqan Raza, Muhammad Rafiq, media coordinator Kashif Ahmed Farooqui, Muaz Khan, Maaham Noor, and boxer Mohaddisa.
