ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court Wednesday dismissed petitions against the formation of alleged audio leaks commission for being infructuous.
A five-member constitutional bench — headed by Justice Aminuddin Khan — heard the case.
Justice Aminuddin observed that the Commission earlier formed had become inactive while Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar added that the commission’s head, Justice Qazi Faez Isa, had retired, and the other two members were now Supreme Court judges.
Hamid Khan, however, argued that the attorney general should clarify whether a new commission will be formed or not. At this, Additional Attorney General Aamir Rehman requested time to seek instructions from the federal government.
Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail, however, expressed frustration at the repeated delays. The bench later on, dismissed the petitions for being infructuous.
