ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has fixed the minimum retail price of cement to streamline tax collection, according to a notification issued on Wednesday.
Through SRO 746(I)/2025, the FBR has determined that the average national retail price of cement, as last published on the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) website (under the weekly Sensitive Price Indicator - SPI), will serve as the minimum retail price for sales tax purposes.
The pricing will be updated before the 5th and 16th of every month, applying to the respective fortnightly periods starting on the 1st and 16th. The sales tax will be levied at the rate specified under Section 3(2)(a) of the Sales Tax Act, 1990. This notification will take effect from today (May 1).
