Gujranwala bag Grade-2 T20 Blind Cricket trophy

LAHORE: Gujranwala clinched 15th Pakistan Blind Cricket Council) T20 Grade-2 Championship trophy when they registered a 4 wicket win over Quetta in the final at the Jinnah Cricket Stadium Gujranwala on Tuesday.

Winning the toss Gujranwala opted to field first, a decision that proved successful as they restricted Quetta to 166 for 8 in 20 overs. Quetta’s innings was anchored by Nadir Ali (34) and Naseeb Ullah (32).

For Gujranwala Israr Hassan took 3 wickets while Akram and Qasim, who picked one wicket each. Chasing a competitive total, Gujranwala displayed resilience and skill, reaching 167 for 6 in 18.5 overs. Israr Hassan continued his remarkable performance, scoring a match-winning 69 off 44 balls. His partnership with Muhammad Akram, who contributed 63 off 53 balls, ensured a successful chase. For Quetta, Niamat Ullah was the standout bowler, claiming 3 wickets. Man of the Match award was given to Israr Hassan.

Commissioner Gujranwala Naveed Hyder Sherazi, Divisional Sports Officer Dr Faisal Mir Khan and Khalid Minhas were the guests of honour at the prize distribution ceremony. Prizes winners included: Player of the Tournament: B1: Muhammad Sohail (Attock); B2: Naseeb Ullah (Quetta);B3: Niamat Ullah (Quetta); Best Wicketkeeper: Atique ur Rehman (Gujranwala).
