Indian actor and producer Prithviraj, who recently finished shooting for an upcoming film called Oozham is all set to star in a film called Karachi 81, which will be directed by K.S. Bava. According to reports, the film will be shot extensively in Pakistan.

Bava, while speaking to Times of India, confirmed the locales and said, “We are thinking about Pakistan as a main location, but are yet to start with the process for the same. The film is in its initial stages.”

Further news stories suggest that Karachi 81 is an action oriented, heavy budget film and the story revolves around a real life incident. As per reports, the film will tell the story of a spy.

Should this film happen, it will be the first time that a Malayalam movie is shot in Pakistan. Of course, it is too soon to predict how Karachi 81 will manage its Pakistan schedule but the film is surely an ambitious gamble that will also take place in curious locations like Moscow, Rajasthan and Kochi.

Prithiviraj, a superstar in Malayalam cinema has also starred in other regional language films in Tamil, Telegu and Hindi films and is best known for starring opposite Rani Mukherji in the romantic comedy Aiyyaa.
