King Charles, who is currently engaged in royal duties during his State Visit to Italy, kept his tour on high-priority despite his ongoing cancer treatment.
The monarch was recently hospitalised due to side effects of the treatment which the Palace claimed was a “minor bump in the road”. However, it did not fail to raise concerns about his declining health.
According to DailyMail’s Royal Editor Rebecca English, the King flew to London for routine cancer treatment “just hours before” he had to leave for his historic state visit.
Meanwhile, Prince Harry had landed from Los Angeles on Sunday but his father spent the weekend at Highgrove, his private Gloucestershire home, resting ahead of this week’s busy State Visit to Italy.
The journalist stressed that the fact that he undertook his treatment in just brief timeframe is “yet another example of the way Charles has repeatedly put duty before his personal comfort since being diagnosed with an undisclosed form of the disease in February last year.”
English revealed that the visit will now have around 19 engagements during their four-day trip on behalf of the British Government to strengthen ties with Italy in areas such as defence, sustainable energy and culture.
The visit comes at the heels of ongoing political tensions regarding US and Canada. The King has been exercising his soft diplomacy to maintain peace even though the monarch is given orders to slow down his duties due to his health concerns.
