ISLAMABAD: Punjab has started using modern technology to protect forests. The use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and thermal imaging will help prevent illegal deforestation as well as spontaneous fire incidents.
Drones are also being used for forest monitoring. According to reliable sources, IT experts, especially artificial intelligence, will arrive in Murree to protect forests located on an area of 47,285 acres where the GIS lab has also started working.
Along with drone monitoring, thermal imaging has also been started. According to sources, thermal imaging will be used to monitor through heat. The drone will use technology that can monitor everything from the temperature of a fire to the temperature of a human body. Immediate response will be possible in the case of fire events, while those who go into the forest for illegal logging will also be caught.
According to sources, this technology will be used to protect the forests of Murree as well as Rawalpindi. Punjab has become the first province to use thermal technology.
