This letter refers to the news report ‘Experts call for steps to stem glacial loss to achieve water security’ (March 22, 2025). It is surprising that we have been hearing about the negative effects of climate change for over three decades, yet past and present governments have not prioritised the construction of major dams to store water.
It is hoped that the present government will seriously look into the construction of the Soan Dam/Indus Link Canal, which will have eight to ten times the water storage capacity of Tarbela Dam.
