ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber Crime Wing has initiated legal action against individuals accused of spreading false information following the recent Jaffar Express attack. Authorities have registered three cases under Pakistan’s Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) against journalists and social media figures accused of inciting public unrest and promoting a banned organization.
According to official sources, verified social media accounts were allegedly used to circulate misleading narratives, fostering uncertainty and distrust in the public. The accused individuals include journalists Ahmad Noorani, Shafiq Ahmed Iddo Advocate, and Ayesha Durrani.
The FIA claims these accounts engaged in deliberate propaganda against national institutions, aiming to destabilize public order.
