With the city commissioner’s office having announced on Sunday the start of work on the Saddar Improvement Project, the first part of the project would focus on renovation of Mansfield Street.

As per the statement of an official of the Commissioner Office, the recently appointed city commissioner, Ejaz Ahmed Khan, who was given the post after the sudden and contentious removal of Asif Hyder Shah, had conducted visits to several areas of the downtown Saddar locality.

The official said the commissioner had been briefed on the project’s salient aspects and pertinent features, following which he had given his approval and urged the officials concerned to expedite work on the project.

He said the commissioner has ordered that Saddar Improvement Project, which is said to include the construction of dedicated pedestrian zones, a food street and a night bazaar, be completed at the earliest by making it a top priority project and ensuring that all necessary requirements were fulfilled without bureaucratic delays.
