ISLAMABAD: A constitutional bench of the Supreme Court Monday disbanded after Justice Aamir Farooq recused himself from the bench hearing the super tax case. Consequently, the hearing was adjourned until today (Tuesday). A five-member bench, led by Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan, was hearing the case.

Justice Amin-ud-Din said Justice Aamer Farooq had previously ruled on the same matter in the Islamabad High Court adding that as per judicial rules, he could not participate in the apex court proceedings on the same issue.

The counsel for the petitioner’s company requested that the hearing be postponed until after Eidul Fitr. However, the court rejected this request and decided to hear the case on a daily basis instead.

The court directed the counsel for the petitioner to prepare separate paper books on Sections 4B and 4C based on judicial precedents. The court also allowed the parties to engage legal representation before adjourning the hearing until today (Tuesday).
