ISLAMABAD: The application of the late Nawaz Khokhar, father of Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar, for the issuance of arms licence has been approved after his death, as the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has announced the decision of the case registered in 2018.

The petitioner, Nawaz Khokhar, has passed away. His family members contested the case after his death.

While approving the application for the issuance of licence, Justice Azam Khan has issued 4-page written order. The court’s decision says Nawaz Khokhar obtained arms licence on March 8, 1987 as the Member of National Assembly (MNA). As per Pakistan Arms Rules 41, the arms licences which were not computerised are generally considered as cancelled.

According to the decision, this principle is not applicable to the MNA. Therefore the licence of the petitioner will not be considered cancelled. Duplicate copy of his licence be provided to the petitioner. It is pertinent to mention here that arms licence’s copy was lost in 2015.
