ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet has formed a committee to review the performance of the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC).
The committee will consist of six members under the chairmanship of Federal Minister of Law and Justice, Senator Azam Nazir Tarrar. The committee members will include the minister of Science and Technology, minister of National Food Security, and secretaries of Industries and Production, Law and Justice, and Science and Technology. The TORs of the committee have been fixed. It will review the performance of the PEC in the context of the mandate and duties assigned to the institution under the Pakistan Engineering Council Act, 1975.
The committee will examine the complaints received against it and the concerns of the public regarding the institution. It will determine legal loopholes in the Act. The committee will be supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology Division Secretariat and it will submit a report to the Cabinet in three weeks.
