PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has told the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission that measures are being taken to counter the effects of climate change.
According to an official document, the KP government told the mission that the government evaluated every project through its Climate Change Cell, which was being funded by the German government. It was added that the Climate Change Cell in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was undergoing restructuring.
A Climate Action Board is now being established to address the negative environmental impacts of projects, the government pointed out, claiming that it would be the first of its kind in the world.
The mission was told that the legislative process for establishing the board had begun. The board will include officials from all departments related to environmental issues.
It is worth mentioning here that the Planning Division hosted the IMF mission’s meeting. Representatives from the planning departments of all provinces participated in the meeting.
