ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has more assets abroad than in Pakistan, reveals the statements of assets and liabilities in the nomination forms of general elections 2024.
Nawaz Sharif declared Rs155 million worth of assets in the nomination forms as compared to Rs1.8 billion declared in the 2015-16 elections.
The data available on the official website of Fafen regarding details of assets and liabilities of parliamentarians reflects that Shehbaz Sharif declared Rs73 million of assets in elections 2024 as compared to Rs310 million in the previous disclosure of assets in 2018-19.
Among the given list of key political figures, Asif Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto declared the most assets — Rs2 billion and Rs1.9 billion — respectively. Bilawal’s declared assets abroad increased by over Rs300 million if compared to his previous disclosures. Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman declared Rs6.2 million worth of assets in the recent disclosures which is the lowest in the given list. In the nomination forms of GE2013, he declared Rs7.7 million of assets.
According to Fafen, Maryam Nawaz Sharif declared over Rs800 million of assets in Pakistan in the nomination forms. She declared no property, business or cash in the bank abroad. Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq declared a total of Rs181 million assets in Pakistan. In the nomination forms of GE2018, he had declared Rs112 million of assets in the country.
KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur declared Rs96 million of assets in Pakistan with no property abroad, whereas, in 2018-19 disclosures, he had declared Rs107 million of assets in Pakistan.
President Asif Ali Zardari declared a total of Rs2 billion of assets in GE2024 disclosures with no property outside Pakistan. However, in 2018 disclosures of assets and liabilities record of ECP, Zardari declared Rs99 million of assets abroad and Rs654 million net assets.
Bilawal Bhutto declared over Rs1.9 billion in assets in recent disclosures. He had declared Rs1.58 billion of assets in 2018-19 disclosures of assets and liabilities before the ECP. In GE2024 disclosures, Bilawal declared Rs1.7 billion of assets abroad, whereas in 2018, he declared Rs1.4 billion of assets outside the country.
Son of prime minister Hamza Shehbaz declared assets of Rs164 million in the nomination forms of general elections 2024 with no property abroad. In 2015-16 disclosures, he declared over Rs370 million of assets. Hamza declared no property abroad.
Former PM Nawaz Sharif declared Rs155 million of assets in nomination forms for the general elections of 2024. He declared Rs1.8 billion of assets in 2015-16 in the assets and liabilities record of ECP. In the recent disclosures, Shehbaz has declared Rs54 million of assets abroad with only Rs14 million in Pakistan.
