The world of fashion is a reflection of our ever-evolving selves - an eclectic mix of influences, ideas, and expressions. Whether it’s the timeless gestures of style or the bold innovations that redefine what is possible, fashion has a way of showing us how creativity knows no bounds. And it’s in this spirit that the Winter Fashion Gala 2025 unfolded, in collaboration with the Goethe-Institut Pakistan and the Alliance Francaise.
Under a clear, crisp sky at the Alliance Francaise de Karachi, the stage was set for a night of style and creativity. The cool evening created a relaxed atmosphere, inviting everyone to enjoy a display of fresh ideas and unique designs.
The show opened with an energetic burst as ‘Nine Figures’ by Fahad Mustafa took to the runway. The collection featured streetwear designed for women who value both comfort and style. Models walked with an effortless confidence, their movements punctuated by a casual swagger that perfectly matched the look. The pieces played with familiar shapes and textures, and there was a sense of fun in how the outfits blended everyday ease with a splash of attitude. It felt like a nod to the idea that fashion can be both practical and a bit rebellious.
Soon, the mood shifted as the stage welcomed ‘Sohaye’ by Diners. This collection focused on floral print eastern wear tailored for young professionals. The designs mixed traditional elements with a modern twist, offering a refreshing take on classic patterns. Models moved gracefully down the runway, yet, there was a playful quality in the way the floral prints and gentle silhouettes interacted.
In a twist that blurred the lines between fashion and art, Parishae Adnan stepped in to experiment with bold looks right on stage. As the models walked, their appearances shifted with every new touch - each brushstroke and colour choice adding an unexpected detail to the outfit. This segment felt like a moment that reminded everyone watching, that beauty can be as fluid and inventive as the clothes themselves.
The energy remained high as the spotlight moved to bridal wear. ‘Seema Shah Bridals’ presented a collection that turned the runway into a vibrant celebration of cultural heritage. The designs featured lively colours and intricate details. As the models glided along the runway, with TV personality Sarah Umair making an appearance, the show carried a joyful vibe that balanced modern cuts with hints of tradition.
Not long after, students from Indus University took the stage with their fashion thesis collections. Each outfit showcased a theme, whether it was a playful take on secret symbols or a quirky interpretation of natural wonders. There was a light-hearted sense of exploration in every piece, which can only come from fresh, fearless experimentation.
As the night wore on, a live performance by singer Aayan Rockstar injected even more energy into the venue. The music was catchy and infectious, encouraging the crowd to sway and tap along.
‘Edge Republic’ then took to the runway with a collection of men’s wear that brought a hint of sparkle and clever design to the stage. The looks were playful and unpretentious, catching the eye with their subtle details.
Shortly afterward, ‘Lubna and Cyma’ presented a range of formal and party wear that felt smart and contemporary. Their designs struck a balance between sophisticated cuts and unexpected details, making the pieces feel both elegant and fun.
The final act of the night was a signature collection by designer Zubair Shah. The pieces, featuring clean lines with a hint of edge through chain details and zippers, provided a fitting capstone to an evening full of surprises. Models, including some familiar faces from TV and social media, walked confidently in outfits that mixed simplicity with a bold spirit. The collection’s palette of black and gold added a touch of drama without overwhelming the playful essence of the show. It was the kind of finale that left the audience thinking about the unexpected ways that fashion can be both a personal expression and a communal celebration.
The hair and makeup team for the show was headed by Saraphine Andrew at The Trio Salon.
The Winter Fashion Gala 2025 turned out to be a playful mix of tradition, innovation, and surprise - an evening that brought something new to talk about.
