KARACHI: JazzCash, the fintech arm of Jazz and a VEON Group company, has been nominated in the Best Fintech Innovation category at the Global Mobile (GLOMO) Awards at MWC 2025, stated a press release on Saturday.

This recognition highlights JazzCash’s pioneering Tap Pay feature, enabling over 360,000 merchants to accept payments via contactless cards or smartphones using NFC-enabled Android devices. Through a digital partnership with Mastercard, JazzCash wallets can also make direct contactless payments.

Murtaza Ali, president of JazzCash, said, “Our goal is to create solutions that address Pakistan’s financial challenges. This nomination affirms our commitment to innovation and financial inclusion. Tap Pay is not just a feature – it is a step towards a cashless, documented economy.”

Pakistan has over 50 million debit and credit cards but only 132,000 PoS machines. Tap Pay bridges this gap by turning smartphones into PoS devices, significantly expanding digital payments nationwide.

With 48 million customers, JazzCash supports financial inclusion through nano-lending, savings, and insurance, aligning with the State Bank of Pakistan’s vision for a digital economy. The platform remains committed to serving unbanked and underserved communities across the country.
