30 Lankans arrive for MBBS study

Islamabad : Thirty more Sri Lankan students have reached Pakistan to pursue medical education (MBBS course) in the local medical universities under Allama Iqbal Scholarship Programme designed for them.

These scholarships are a portion of the comprehensive educational programme entitled Pakistan-Sri Lanka Higher Education Cooperation Programme.

The Sri Lankan students will pursue their medical education in the country's top medical institutions, like Dow University of Health Sciences, Karachi and Liaquat University of Medical Sciences, Karachi.

Both educational institutions are accredited by the Sri Lankan Medical Council.

Already, 456 Sri Lankan students are enrolled in Pakistani universities under that scholarship programme, which covers major disciplines, especially medicine, engineering, business studies, natural sciences and social sciences.

The students were selected for the programme through a competitive selection process keeping in view their basic eligibility criteria for enrolment in Pakistani universities.
