Army annex 10 gold in National Boxing

KARACHI: Army’s male and female boxers proved their supremacy in all the ten finals played on the fifth day of the National Boxing Championship, winning 10 gold medals.

Army won five gold in the men’s and women’s categories, while Wapda boxers won five silver medals. Pakistan Boxing Federation President Lt Col (r) Nasir Ijaz Tung, Secretary General PBF major Irfan Younis and Secretary General Pakistan Olympic Association Khalid Mahmood also witnessed the exciting finals.

In the women’s 75 kg final played at the beautiful and historic Sports Gymnasium of KPT, Army’s Afra Khurram defeated Wapda’s Arzoo Ashraf. While in the 48 kg category final, Army’s Ummul Baneen defeated Navy’s Gohar Taj.

In the 54kg final, Army’s Malaika Zahid defeated HEC’s Shehzadi Sakhi, in the 65 kg final, Army’s Dua Zahra defeated Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s Komal Akhlaq, and in the 70 kg final, Army’s Sara defeated Wapda’s Iqra to win the gold medal.

In the men’s 90+ kg final, Army’s Muhammad Azhar defeated Wapda’s Sanaullah. In the 90 kg title match, Army’s Irfan Khan won gold medal by defeating Naimatullah of Wapda. The 75kg final was won by Army’s Saif Al-Manan who defeated HEC’s Jawad Ahmed. In the 70kg men’s final, Army’s Gulzeb defeated Navy’s Tabarak Allazi, while in the 60kg final, Army’s Ibrahim defeated Police’s Naveed Ashraf.
