ISLAMABAD: JUIF chief Fazlur Rehman Wednesday said the meeting between the judiciary and IMF delegation was a unique incident of its kind in the country’s history.
“Either economic stability is linked with justice or the IMF has reservations about Pakistan’s justice system,” he said while talking to the media here.
Criticising Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja, Fazl said he did not fulfill his due responsibilities and acted as the establishment’s puppet. He advised the CEC to quit, paving way for his successor to take oath.
He said it would be foolish to expect any transparent elections under his supervision. “He has completely failed to fulfill his duties,” Fazl said.
He reiterated that the government was a product of rigging, acting as management of the establishment.
Fazl said his party had proposed a constitutional court but constitutional bench was not a bad initiative either saying the bench will yield good results if it was allowed to function. He regretted that there was progress from the government side with regard to the registration of seminaries and maintained that both the federal government and provinces should fulfill their responsibilities.
