On February 7, the newly renovated Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore was inaugurated, marking a significant milestone in Pakistan’s cricket history. The renovation, completed in a record 117 days, introduced modern features such as LED floodlights, larger score screens, new hospitality boxes, and upgraded seating, enhancing the stadium’s capacity and facilities. The inauguration ceremony was a grand affair, featuring musical performances, a vibrant cultural display and a spectacular fireworks show, reflecting the nation’s enthusiasm for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The importance of showcasing Pakistan as a welcoming host was emphasised, along with the collective prayers for the national team’s victory.

The upgraded Gaddafi Stadium is set to host several key matches, including the opening match. This renovation underscores Pakistan’s commitment to providing world-class facilities for international cricket. The focus remains on promoting sports and entertainment as unifying forces, distinct from the world of politics.
