ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet has changed the chairman of the Cabinet Committee on Inter-governmental Commercial Transactions.

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, who was the chairman of this committee, is no longer the head of this important cabinet committee. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has been appointed as Chairman of the Cabinet Committee on Inter-governmental Commercial Transactions.

The composition of the cabinet committee has been changed with the approval of the federal cabinet. Earlier, the deputy prime minister was not a member of the Cabinet Committee on Inter-governmental Commercial Transactions. The defence minister has now been included as a member of the Cabinet Committee on Inter-governmental Commercial Transactions.

The six-member Inter-governmental Commercial Transactions Committee includes the minister of Defence, minister of Finance and minister of Privatization, minister of Petroleum and minister of Economic Affairs. Notification has been issued in this regard.

Negotiations on agreements at government-level with other countries are included in the committee’s TORs. The chairman of the Committee may invite the secretary of the Privatization Division or the head of any other institution whose matter is under discussion to participate. The Cabinet Division has issued a notification for the reconstitution of the committee.
