National Stadium to be inaugurated today

KARACHI: The National Stadium in Karachi has been fully prepared to host the Champions Trophy, as the inauguration ceremony of the stadium will be held today (Tuesday).

The opening ceremony will feature renowned singers Ali Zafar, Shafqat Amanat Ali, and Sahir Ali Bagga, who will perform live, a PCB press release said. It added that the event will also showcase a spectacular fireworks display. Entry will be free for the public. The development of the stadium was completed in a record 120 days. The construction work for the project commenced on September 28, 2024, and was successfully completed by January 31, 2025.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi expressed his gratitude for the collective effort of all the workers, contractors, NESPAK, FWO, and the entire PCB team. Naqvi added that the new National Stadium offers world-class amenities for both the players and the fans.

We are committed to ensuring the best facilities for the players during the Champions Trophy. Karachi’s National Stadium is set to host three exciting matches during the Champions Trophy 2025, including the curtain-raiser between Pakistan and New Zealand on February 19.

The second match, between Afghanistan and South Africa, will be held on February 21 at the same venue, and the third match, between England and South Africa, is scheduled for March 1 at the National Stadium Karachi.
