Canal controversy

This refers to the letter ‘Drained away’ (February 4, 2025) by Muslim Vighio. I would completely agree with the writer’s thoughts related to the digging of canals on the Indus River. The people of Sindh are extremely upset with the federal government’s decision because the province is already facing a severe shortage of water. The growing population is leading to a surge in water consumption, resulting in an inadequate water supply for Sindh.

Consequently, the province’s water resources are being depleted, and conservation efforts are falling short. The proposal to construct additional canals on the Indus River is entirely unacceptable, as it would exacerbate Sindh’s water woes.
