ISLAMABAD: Acting President Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has convened the session of National Assembly on Monday, February 10, at 5 pm.
Gilani convened the National Assembly session under the powers conferred by Clause (1) Article 54 of the Constitution. The current session of the lower house of parliament will be the 13th session of the 16th National Assembly.
It is pertinent to mention here that in the previous session in January, the National Assembly had passed the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) Amendment Bill 2025 on which journalists protested and walked out of the press gallery, while the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led opposition had walked out of the house before the bill was introduced.
It is expected that the Senate session is likely to be summoned on Thursday, February 13. The notification of the Senate session may be issued within a day or two.
The joint sitting of both houses of parliament is scheduled to be held on February 12. On January 24, Speaker National Assembly adjourned the joint sitting of both houses of parliament to meet on February 12.
