Miles Teller shared his thoughts on the potential of Top Gun 3.
The Whiplash actor made an appearance at the The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on Tuesday to promote his upcoming film The Gorge, when the host asked him about whether the third part of Top Gun is happening soon.
"Look, you might be shocked, but I do not green light that thing. I have nothing to do [with it]," he said. The War Dogs star revealed that he has told Tom Cruise to alert him months before so he can prepare his body.
"I just told Tom, I said, give me enough time, [and a] heads up for me to get in shape. It’s one month per ab. I need six months heads up."
However, Colbert continued to prod Teller to confirm him the third movie was round the corner.
"So yes, it’s happening is what you’re saying?" asked the host. To which Teller responded, "I don’t know. There’s a lot of enthusiasm on the fans side. There’s a lot of enthusiasm on the creative side."
In January 2024, it was announced that the Top Gun 3 was in development. Ehren Kruger, a co-writer for Top Gun: Maverick, was writing the script, and Joe Kosinski would come back as its director, according to sources.
1980s Top Gun and it’s 2022 sequel, Top Gun: Maverick both were well praised by the audience with the original film having a huge box office success, earning over $1 billion.
