The controversial Peca Amendment Act 2025 has been passed by both houses of parliament. Parliament undoubtedly has the power to make laws but no power to change the basic structure of the constitution, which guarantees freedom of expression as a basic right of the citizens. This hallmark of the constitution should be safeguarded. It would be best if the Peca act is withdrawn altogether.
