KARACHI: Karachi businessmen had an interesting conversation with Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal on Sunday.
The businessmen demanded from Ahsan Iqbal, “Give us Maryam Nawaz for some time and keep Murad Ali Shah.”
All the traders present at the meeting supported Maryam Nawaz as the Chief Minister of Sindh, however, Ahsan Iqbal smiled sheepishly at the demand of the traders and did not comment.
On the other hand, Sindh government spokesperson MPA Sadia Javed said in response that the ground realities could not be changed and called the person who made the demand a flatterer. “It is disrespectful to call the words of a flatterer the statement of a knowledgeable and respectable business community. No serious politician and responsible minister tolerates frivolous talk in front of him,” she said.
She said, “A certain group of traders is conspiring to insult the mandate of the people of Sindh. A certain group of traders talks about everything except business on various forums. Democracy is not a chess game where the pieces are picked and placed in another place. Only the elected representatives of the people are representing the people and Sindh is truly a trader-friendly province under the leadership of Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.”
