In the dazzling world of tech advancements, yesterday’s innovation becomes today’s relic. While many countries are still struggling with the rollout of 5G, China is rewriting the rules of connectivity with a giant leap into the future. A Chinese aerospace firm reportedly announced a 6G data transmission rate of 100 gigabytes per second earlier this month. This is like downloading 10 full-length movies in one second. The feat was reportedly accomplished using the Jilin-1 satellite network, a constellation of satellites cruising through low Earth orbit.
While 5G signals operate between 6 GHz and 40 GHz, 6G takes things into overdrive, using frequencies between 100 GHz and 300 GHz. This means blistering speeds, ultra-low latency, and capabilities that could revolutionise industries from healthcare to entertainment. In the race for the internet's future, China is already miles ahead.
