JCP to meet on Feb 1

Commission will review candidatures of 36 advocates, primarily from SC for their appointment as Additional Judges of PHC

ISLAMABAD: The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) is set to deliberate on nominations for additional judges to the Peshawar High Court (PHC) on February 1, 2025.

In this regard, Judicial Commission of Pakistan Secretary Niaz Muhammad sent the list of nominations to all commission members on Saturday. The meeting, chaired by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi, will convene on February 1, 2025, at 11am. According to the list, four District and Sessions Judges—Kaleem Arshad Khan, Farah Jamshed, Inamullah Khan, and Sofia Waqar Khattak—will be considered for appointment as Additional Judges of the Peshawar High Court (PHC).

Additionally, the commission will review the candidatures of 36 advocates, primarily from the Supreme Court, for their appointment as Additional Judges of the PHC.

Some of the advocates under consideration include Nasir Mahmood, Qazi Babar Arshad, Raheela Bibi, Sadiq Ali, Shabnam Nawaz, Shah Faisal, Shumail Butt, Kausar Ali Shah, and Muhammad Habib Qureshi.
