RAWALPINDI: Over 186,725 shopkeepers were arrested in Punjab for overcharging last year.
Price magistrates received over Rs1.89 fines and 470 raids were conducted, while 14.655 FIRs were registered. In the ranking of 39 districts in price checking, Lahore stood first with fines and arrests, Rawalpindi second and Faisalabad third.
Price magistrates conducted 817,636 raids in Rawalpindi; 188 FIRs were lodged and 5,224 arrests were made, while 1,966 shops/malls/markets were ss sealed. Revenue was collected through fines of over Rs116.5 million.
In Lahore, Rs148.9 million were fined and 14,773 arrests were made. In Faisalabad, Rs129.2 fines were collected and 19,7011 arrests were made.
The lowest fine was Rs691,553 in Murree district, ranked 38.
The lowest arrests were made in Gujarat district with 35. In Jhelum, ranked 15th, only nine FIRs were registered in the entire year.
The least number of raids were made in Kot Addu. The number of which was 47,763. Over 477,982 inspections were made in Jhelum district and over Rs21 fines were received, while eight shops were sealed and 484 people were arrested in nine FIRs.
