claim that “WLCB receives the Award for the Best University — a group of regional accreditation agencies awarded WLCB the award for ‘best university’ for the year 2015”.
When contacted by The News to find out who had awarded the ‘best university’ for the year 2015’ to the WLCB, a spokesman of the college didn’t have an answer and instead asked why he had been contacted “out of office hours”. He agreed that fake pictures were used on the website and that there were no students enrolled at the college and there were no classes but said that degrees and diplomas could be provided “depending on what was needed”. When asked to elaborate on what he meant and whether the degrees and diplomas were supplied by Axact from Pakistan, he shouted and put the phone down and didn’t take the call again.
The information about this fraud college was provided by an Axactian who happened to sell a few diplomas and degrees for this college operating from the Axact’s Karachi office. The source said that Axact doesn’t only provide degrees and diplomas to the virtual colleges and schools it manages but also to those backstreet colleges which are not directly affiliated but which lure vulnerable immigrant students as well as students living outside of the western countries. This provides a new angle to the Axact scandal as it looks likely that many colleges who could found to be involved in fake degrees business may surface soon.
The Axactian told The News that this college was used by Axact “as a last resort when students forced for an education with a physical campus (also registered with UKBA). Axact could boast that it has educational facilities in the real world too. They were offering online courses for them which was just a formality though, like other websites. It was a money making scam.”
The college uses many testimonials from fake profiles such as one from a certain “Andrew Barnett from Abu Dhabi, UAE” – “I choose WLCB because it’s one of the most renowned business colleges in Manchester and it offers the fastest route towards quality higher education that is recognised all over the world”. The testimony is right in the sense that, according to the insiders of Axact, degrees and diplomas are arranged by Axact in the “fastest” time of around two weeks or so.
