ISLAMABAD: Azan Ali Khan lost his third-round match in the under-17 category of the British Junior Open underway in Birmingham (UK).
Azan was beaten by Indian Yusha Nafees in straight games. Nafees won 11-7, 11-9, 11-5 to earn a place in the pre-quarter-finals. Some of the leading names including Noman Khan and Ahmad Rayan Khalil did not turn up for the British Open.
Mahoor Ali (under-13 girls) who won her first-round match against qualifier Saleena was beaten by the Egyptian girl Nazil Orfi in straight games. Orfi won 11-6, 11-1, 11-9 to put curtains on Mahoor’s progress.
Mohammad Sohail Adnan who remains the only Pakistan hope (under-13 boys) progressed to the third round beating Scottish Callum Smith 11-2, 11-3, 11-2. The boy has a good chance of making an impact.
