The South Korean economy is the 12th largest in the world and the fourth largest in Asia. It is ranked 52nd on the World Happiness Index. This happiness is expected to grow as the country has consolidated its democracy by thwarting a martial law attempt recently. The nation presented a unified front against its own president who tried to impose martial law. The military was hesitant to act and the people were resilient.
There were mass rallies all across the country and parliamentarians acted in the best interest of the people. The martial law was nullified by a vote of parliament. The role of parliamentarians, the army, and the people of South Korea is commendable. Only if every single citizen feels duty bound to do his share are constitutional rights secure.
