Cities all over the world are running out of water, a problem that is going to get worse as climate change intensifies and infrastructure fails. Pakistan is at most risk due to climate change, particularly the city of Karachi. Today, Karachi has grown so big so fast that it can only supply half of the water the city needs.
Karachi’s old infrastructure loses about a third of its daily water just from piping it into the city. Karachi’s average temperature has risen by 1.5 Celsius in the last five years. The rains have decreased and will continue to decrease. We must raise awareness about water scarcity and water pollution among the next generation.
