Congratulations to all the members of the Punjab Assembly for their recent pay raise. I hope that they will justify this increase by improving their efficiency. Our elected representatives should not live in poverty and one should appreciate how they have restricted the increase so that even the highest paid members will earn less than Rs1 million a month. They could have gone for four or five times that amount since they set their own salaries.
