SIALKOT: Federal France Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb on Thursday, while terming Sialkot as a role model for the country, said that much could be learnt from the very vibrant business community of the city, adding the private sector had to lead the country because the role of government was policy making only.
He was speaking to local industrialists and exporters at the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI). Federal Minister for Trade Jam Kamal, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif and others were also present on the occasion.
Aurangzeb said the current government had put the national economy on the right track and due its effective measures, debt servicing would decline further. He said the Economic Coordination Committee was working hard in order to facilitate the common man and benefit them from the reduction of prices of chicken, meat and pulses in the international market. He added that the role of middlemen would be strictly checked and minimised in that connection.
He said that every export-related industry should come forward and play its part in order to enhance national exports and boost the foreign exchange reserves and the national economy. Trade Minister Jam Kamal, in his speech, said that an Expo Centre would soon be set up in Sialkot with the desks of TDAP (Trade Development Authority of Pakistan) and Ministry of Commerce in it.
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said that in the few recent months, nine percent reduction in the policy rate was an evidence of business friendly policies of the government.
