LAHORE: Nepal defeated Pakistan by six wickets at the Bayuemas Oval on Monday, securing their place in the Super-Four stage of the ACC U-19 Women’s Asia Cup.
Chasing a modest target of 105, Nepal’s captain Puja Mahato led from the front with an unbeaten, run-a-ball 47, including three boundaries. Her composed innings ensured Nepal reached the target with an over to spare. For Pakistan, Fatima Khan and Quratulain managed to claim one wicket each.
Earlier, Pakistan opted to bat first and posted 104 for five in their 20 overs. Wicketkeeper-batter Komal Khan top-scored with a 43-ball 38, which included two fours, while Maham Anees contributed an unbeaten 29 off 38 balls, also hitting two boundaries.
Nepal’s skipper, Puja Mahato, shone with the ball as well, picking up two wickets for 27 runs in a stellar all-round performance. This defeat follows Pakistan’s nine-wicket loss to India in their opening match on Sunday.
