LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed on Saturday that all-rounder Imad Wasim and left-arm fast bowler Mohammad Amir have announced their retirement from international cricket.
Both players last represented Pakistan during the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 held in the USA and West Indies.
Amir, 32, made his debut in June 2009 and played 36 Tests, 61 ODIs, and 62 T20Is. The left-arm pacer took 271 international wickets and scored 1,179 runs in all formats.
Amir said: “It has been an honour to play for Pakistan across all three formats. While this is a tough decision, I believe it is the right time for the next generation to take the baton. I thank the PCB and the fans for their support throughout my career.”
PCB Chief Operating Officer Sumair Ahmad Syed expressed his gratitude: “On behalf of the PCB, I extend sincere thanks to Amir and Imad for their services to Pakistan cricket and wish them the best in their future endeavours.”
