LAHORE: Peshawar scored 293 for 7 against Lahore Whites in their first innings on the first day of the second match of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy tri-series.
The highlight of the first day’s play was the excellent innings of 95 by Moaz Sadaqat and 71 by Zubair Khan. Lahore Whites won the toss and put Peshawar in to bat in the four-day match at Abbottabad Stadium, Abbottabad. Moaz Sadaqat batted well against a bowling attack comprising Naseem Shah, Ahmed Bashir and Obaid Shah, but he missed his second century in the tournament by just 5 runs. He scored 95 runs off 97 balls with the help of a six and 16 fours.
Earlier, he was out for 96 against Bahawalpur. Moaz Sadaqat has scored a century and five half-centuries in this tournament. After Moaz’s dismissal, Zubair Khan’s 71 runs with the help of 11 fours gave Peshawar a chance to improve their position. He added 97 runs in the sixth wicket partnership with Muhammad Haris. Muhammad Haris was out for 45 runs with the help of 4 fours.
Ahmed Bashir and Naseem Shah took two wickets each for Lahore Whites. It may be recalled that Sialkot defeated Peshawar by an innings and 57 runs in the first match of the tri-nation stage of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. The third match, starting from December 27, will see Sialkot and Lahore Whites compete.
