This refers to the news report, ‘Even developed world faces fake passports’ (June 1). The case of Mullah Akhtar Mansour possessing a Pakistani CNIC and passport is different from the developed world. Developed countries face the problem of fake/tampered and stolen passports whereas in Pakistan such passports and CNIC are ‘genuine’ but have been issued to persons who are not ‘genuine’ Pakistani citizens.
It is the responsibility of the government that it should not issue such documents to ‘fake Pakistani citizens’.
