ISLAMABAD: Investigators probing the Karachi bus attack have found some initial clues suggesting the involvement of the proscribed Lashkar-e-Jhangvi in the terrorist attack that killed 45 and injured several others.
There is nothing concrete as yet, however, with the authorities talking about the role of RAW in this latest terrorist attack in Pakistan.
Sources said that the authorities have found that a total of 13 terrorists were directly involved in the Karachi bus massacre. Ten terrorists were riding on bikes whereas three others used a car to commit their barbaric act of killing.
The sources hinted at a possible major breakthrough in the next 24 hours, stating that the intelligence agencies, police, Rangers and other security departments are using their energies and pooling their resources to get to the culprits and bring them to justice.
It is said that the initial indications on the basis of available clues suggest the involvement of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi in the Karachi bus attack. Regarding the availability of any evidence proving the involvement of RAW in this particular case, the sources said nothing could be said with certainty at this stage. “We need more time and further investigations,” a police source said.
The police source expressed his optimism that with the collective effort of the police and security agencies, the Karachi bus attack case would be solved. The source was hopeful of some early breakthrough in the case.
The source added that during the last one year, the Karachi police had solved almost all the high profile cases of terrorism including the Abbas Town bomb blast case in which 52 persons were killed, Justice Maqbool Baqar Case, the murder of Parween Rehman (Orangi Pilot Project), Karachi airport Case, the murder of Advocate Mubarak Raza Kazmi (Son in law of Allama Talib Jauhari), Zohra Shahid (PTI) murder case, murder of Allama Khalid Mehmood Soomro (JUI), Prof Robina Khalid (Head of Child Day Care

Department at Dow Medical University) case, the murder of Prof Shakeel Auj, murder of Sibt-e-Hassan, the Shikarpur Imambargah suicide bombing, the Rangers mobile attack near Kati Pahari and murder of Dr. Saleem Kharal, Head of the Pathology Department JPMC (Brother of MPA Naeem Kharal-PPP).
Regarding the involvement of RAW in terrorist activities in Pakistan, the Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry said a few days back that the Indian agency was involved in different acts of terrorism in the country. Talking to the media, he had said that Pakistan has been sharing with India the information about RAW involvement.
While the authorities would ascertain whether RAW was involved in the Karachi bus attack or not, the Karachi police recently arrested two men who had confessed to have received training for militancy from the Indian spy agency.
The Foreign Secretary had said that if RAW was found involved in the massacre of Ismailis in the Karachi bus attack, Islamabad would take up the issue at all international forums.
