ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has rejected the impression that PTI founder Imran Khan will get relief on a telephone call from the United States.

“Some people are saying that as soon as a telephone call is received from America, Imran Khan will be handed over to the callers and the Pakistan government will have no courage to deny,” he said on X on Thursday.

Asif recalled that it was then prime minister Nawaz Sharif who, besides a telephone call, was also given an offer of five billion dollars that he refused and went ahead with the nuclear tests. Pervez Musharraf surrendered soon after receiving a call and agreed to more than what was demanded.

He said the war which started after 9/11 ended, but Pakistan was still facing the consequences in the shape of terrorism.
